Footing Design

In building construction works, designing is an important one in any type of building projects. Footing Design it bears the total weight of its structure and weight.  In footing it includes there are so many types, designs for continuous footing, designs for rectangular footing etc.

Footing Design

Dead Load, live load, dead moment (DMx), live moment (LMx), Dead Moment (DMy), Live Moment (LMy), demand to capacity ratio, height of soil above footing, weight of soil, weight of concrete, total land, factored total land, factored total X moment, factored total Y moment, allowable soil bearing pressure, concrete compressive strength, reinforcing yield stress.

Basic Plate Dimensions for Footing Design: Width of base plate, length of blasé plate.

Footing dimensions and reinforcing: Footing thickness, allowable net soil pressure, footing length, footing width, footing area, eccentricity X, eccentricity Y, section modulus X, section modulus Y,. Pressure of the soil P1, P2, P3 and P4. Bottom concrete cover, edge cover, depth to reinforcing bars.

Flexure of Footing Design: Critical section in long direction, critical section in short direction, ultimate moment long direction, ultimate moment short direction, min as long direction, min as short direction, max bar spacing.  Long direction reinforcements are, reinforcing bar size, reinforcing bar area per bar, reinforcing bar diameter.  In actual bar spacing, number of reinforcing bars, total area of reinforcing, calculate for a moment check.

Two way shear of Footing Design: Width of critical section, length of critical section, critical section perimeter, factored punching shear force, capacity by equation.

Long direction reinforcement development: Horizontal reinforcement factor, epoxy coating, coating factor, reinforcement size factor, lightweight concrete, lightweight concrete factor, less of lease cover and ½ center to center spacing, reduction for express reinforcement, development length required and development length allowed by slab.

Short direction outside reinforcement development of Footing Design: Horizontal reinforcement factor, epoxy coating,                 coating factor, reinforcement size factor, light weight concrete, light weight concrete factor, less of least cover and ½ center to center spacing, reduction for excess reinforcement, development length required, development length allowed by slab.

Footing Design Assumptions:  Square footing, critical section for two way shear from the edge of the base plate, critical section to one way shear is also the edge of basic plate, critical section for flexure at edge of base plate, critical section for flexure at edge of column base plate, plane sections in flexure remaining  plane, plane sections in flexure remain plane, steel strain exceeds yield strain, concrete failure strain, column centered on footing, Length L must be the long dimension of the footing.
